Before Mr. Justice Edwards, at tho Supremo Court to-day, Lydia Schultz was acquitted on a charge of' murdering, her infant child in April or May last, Mr. C. C. Hutton proseouted, and Mr. Gifi'ord Moure defended. The Judgo severely criticised the police for extracting a state, jnent from the girl. Summing up, the judge said there was really no evidence on which the jury could convict except that of tho police; mid he was of opinion that tho detective had secured the evidence by Uiuucing the woman. Certainly a baby had been bprii, but accused did not know owing to the state of mind she was in at the time. The jury returned a verdict of not amity. ■;• I
