GERMAN SUCCESSES CLAIMED NO RUSSIANS IN PRUSSIA . (Rec. August 1?, 5,15 p.m.) „, ' T T he Hague, August 11. The German Legation here states that the German, forces have driven back the Russian frontier forces, and destroyed a cavalry .brigade at tho frontier town of boldan, in .East Prussia. A division was scattered near Instorburg, ''fifty miles east ot Konigsberg. ■ . ■ Bast Prussia is claimed to be. free from the enemy. The German losses are eaid to be slight. . ' Czensbochowa, Kalisz, Welju,n, Kilbarty. and other Russian frontier places have been occupied by the Germans, whom the Poles cheered. The Russians have evacuated Russian Poland.—("Times" and Sydney "Sun" Service.) ■ GERMAN BRUTALITY. MAYOR NEARLY BEATEN TO DEATH. St. Petersburg, August 10. ' An «yo-witness states that on the German commander's oider the Mayor of Kalisz, Poland, was nearly beaten to death. The Town Council's messenger wae shot when fetching the Mayor a mattrees and pillow. The manager.of the local treasury was. also shot. The Germans mad© hostages of the principal. inhabitants, and fired -on the civilians/ many of whom were killed. AUSTRIANS RETIRE FROM POLAND. FRONTIER TOWN EVACUATED. . (Rec. August 12, 7.55 p.m.) ;. St. Petersburg, August 11. Owing to several Russian successes on the frontier, the Austrians are evacuating Radzivilov, a Russian, town near tho Austrian frontier, not far from Brody, in Galicia. ADVANCE INTO BOSNIA. FRONTIER VILLAGES OCCUPIED. Nish, August 10. Owing to the Austrian withdrawals from the frontier, the Servians captured Vardeste and Dobrun, two villages, one a few hundred yarde in Bosnia across the .Servian frontier, and the other five miles away. The Montenegrin* have occupied Jele. bitch, a few miles in Bosnia, an'd joined hands with tho Servians. AUSTRIANS ADVANCE FROM CRACOW. London, August 11. The Press-Bureau states that the.AuStrinns are advancing from Cracow, in Galicia, towards tho town of Kiolce, in Russian Poland.
