CUSTOMS REGULATIONS.
SPECIAL CLEARANCE EOR SHIPS, . The Minister of Customs has given notice that' as from' Friday _ every ship proceeding foreign or coastwise, whether wjth cargo or in'bajlast, is required to obtain from the Collector, or other officer Of Customs at'the Customhouse, a special clearance before leaving the port' The concession under which coastwise Bhips'carrying certain 'goods are bxempted from cleararioe is also withdrawn. ' Any' attempt to leave the port without obtaining such clearance may result iji the seizure or destruction of the 6hip, The clearance niust be preserved for production oii demand to any'officer of His "Itajosty'a Army, Navy,' Jlarines, Coastguard, or Customs, or any constable or police officer of New Zealand, or any person' employed ini any such capacity, and is valid .only for the voyage specified theron. Fishing-boata not carrying bonded stores or cargo other than fish ann) appliances for carrying on the business of $■_ sea fisherman are hot required to obtain a clearance. Clearances wilt, however, be issued, for smc(i boat? if desired.
