The telegraph office advise that they will accept telegrams'in Maori addressed by 'a Maori' to a' Maori, but not otherwise. The conditions of acceptance in other respects are to be\ as for messages in English or French. At a special meeting of the Wellington Education Board yesterday morning, the following motion was carried:—"That the board will place, uo difficulty in the way of teachers desiring to join any expeditionary forco that, may be established." The Anglican Bishop of Wellington (Dr.. Sprott) will preach at a special service in .connection with tho war, which will be held at St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral, Mulgrave Street, on Sunday morning next, at 11 o'clock. Special leaflets have been printed containing appropriate hymns, and the National Anthem will bo sung at the close of the service. Immigration and emigration returns for the month of June are published in this week's Gazettes The total number of arrivals in New Zealand for the period was 2480, as against 2904 in June, '1913. The total number of departures was 3452, as against 2775 for the corresponding month last year. The figures for Wellington were; Arrivals, .1351; departures, l 1305. . , The Mount Cook School Committee held its monthly meeting on Tuesday. Reports from the head teacher showed that good work was being done, and the halfyearly report of the inspectors was satisfactory. The treasurer's statement disclosed a credit balance of £23 6s. 3d. Messrs. Fuller, Hobb3, and Barratt were elected delegates to attend a proposed conference. of school committees to discuss the new Education Bill. Arrangements are well in hand for holding th« annual school concert .on September 1 and 2. ' • ■
