Mr, John Prouse.-of Wellington, has been engaged by the Auckland Choral Society to sing tho baritone role in Gounod's oratorio, "The Redemption," to bo performed on Tuesday, August 18. v Mr. B. T. Bailey, of Moawbaugo Station, who has been seriously ill, is making pood progress toward recovery, says our Taihapo 'correspondent. Mr. R. Cunliffo lias been re-elected president of the Petoho Working Men's Club. ■ The Conciliation Commissioner (Mr. P. Hally) left for. Napier last night.. Mr'. J. Culford Bell leaves this morning for Paliiatua to judge the elocutionary sections of the competitions' there.
