' ~ ' ■ v -Apart from the delays caused by a slow player, I feel convinced that procrastinatioh'in thehitting of the ball.is bad in the long run for the golfer himself (says Harry Vardon in the "Daily Mail").. Hβ develops a habit of thinking to such an extent that the chances are that,, sooner or later, he finds himself, during these periods'of reflection changing his mind several times as to how he shall execute the shot. That is nearly certain to be fatal. ■.'">' A sorely-tried caddie was carrying for a man who, as the result of some very bad shots, had lost three balls and his temper. ."I -thought you came out here to look after the balls I" the man said warmly. The caddie's temperament ran up.several degrees Aigher. "Aye,, did ye that?" he -retorted. "Weel, mebbe we've baith made a mistak,' for I thocht you cam' oot tae play gowf 1' " The men's button and silver ball competition (bogey handicap), played at Waiwetu.last Saturday,, resulted in a.'
