The Borough lihgineer (Mr. A.'Cowio) expresses him. eelf.as highly pleased with the first bus, which will bo completed next week. This car is 13ft. in length and 7ft. in width, and'p'ill accommodate twentyfive passengers. A very old Petone resident, Mr. Caleb Lusty, died on Wednesday. Deceased was bom in 1859, at Stroud, Gloucestershire, and arrived in Nelson in 1874, where he" resided with his parents for some years, coming to Petoue in 1887. He was employed at iha Petone Woollen Mills as a spinner, and steadily rose to the position of foreman carder, which position ho held until his retirement'some four years ago. Mr. Lusty was at one time a member of the Petone Borough Council, a Forester, and * member of the Hutt No-License League. Hβ leaves a fatu« ily of four sons and three daughters. The Board of Managers of St. David's Presbyterian Church, Petono, has decided to donate tho sum of £10 10s. t<> tho Thompson Memorial Fund.

Tho Petone League Football Club, in conjunction with th© Mascotte Picture Company, last evening tendered a benefit performance to a Petone family in distress. There was a good attendance and a vaudevillo programme and a programme of pictures was presented, the following taking part:—Messrs. W. Miller, C. Howard, Lawlor, Moonoy, Eigby, Finlay, and the TJtiau Quartet.
