Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M. (Coroner), held an inquest at the Hospital yesterday afternoon touching' tlie death' of Maurice Kelliher, a driver, who died at the institution ,at 5.55 a.m. yesterday. Dr. James G. Mitchell, house surgeon at tho Hospital, stated that tho ; deceased was admitted *o the institution at 9 a.m. on July 27, in a semi-con-scious condition,, suffering from injuries to his head. His condition improved, and on the following day he became conscious. The deceased- told : witness that he had been driving a three- ■ horso wagon, ' loaded with bricks, through Tawera Crescent, off Ohirc Road, when one of the horses stumbled, causing him (the deceased) to full. to the road.: , His condition, however, gradually became worse,' and he. died oi '. heart failure, following on concussion of; the brain. , .
The Coroner returned a verdict to the effect that deceased died from heart failure following on concussion of the brain-duo to accidentally falling off. a wagon. '■ >-. , : '.
