CHARGES OF THEFT. . Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, ■S.M.', dealt with the police cases at yesterday's sitting of the Magistrate's Court. "IDLE AND DISORDERLY." .Elizabeth Brady and Victor King were deemed to be rogues and.vagabonds in that they were' found on private property, at night without' lawful excuse. Each was sentenced to a month's imprisonment. A sentence of one'month jn gaol was imposed on Frank Adair, who was deemed to. bq an _ idle and disorderly person with insufficient lawful means of'support. .... INSOBRIETY. For insobriety George M'Carten was fined.2os.; Daniel, Sullivaii, Robert Anderson, and Radford James Shawcross. were fined 10s. each. Lingard and Co. claimed from Albert Collyer. £30 as commission on the sale of a butchery business at Kilbirnie. The defendant stated , that plaintiff had nothing to do with the introduction of the purchaser, whereas plaintiff definitely claimed this. His AVorship held tliat plaintiff's introduction was tlio efficient cause in bringing about the sale, and he fixed the commission due to plaintiff at £12,. and gave judgment accordingly. Costs amounting to £3 wore allowed. Mr. D. J. Jackson appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. P. H. Putnam for defendant. .TIMBER MERCHANTS' CLAIM. Easson, Ltd., timber merchants, sued J. E. Vnale, shop assistant,' under part 111 of the Wages Protection and Contractors Act, 1908, for the sum" of £109 14s. 3d., for timber supplied to Langridgo find Gould for the building of a 'dwelling-house at Wadestpwn for the defendant. After bearing the evidence His Worship gave judgment'for plaintiff for the amount claimed and costs £4 14s. Mr. T. C. A.
