AUCKLAND, July 28 Tho mail steamer Makura arrived in. the Gulf this morning from Vancouver, but owing to -the dense fog whiA hung over the harbour all the morning, the vessel was compolled to anchor in tho channel until this afternoon. The Makara anchored in the stream ointil. pratique had been granted and then-berthed at the l eastern Bido of Queen's Wharf at about 2.30 p.m. She brought over 200 : passengers in all classes for Australia and New Zealand, and 800 bags and hampers of .European, American, and Canadian mail. Her cargo included a large consignment of fruit from Suva and some 750 tons of general merchandise from Vancouver. The Makura': is timed:to 'leave Auckland, for Sydney tomorrow afternoon. • •
