OUR MILITARY FORCES

ADMINISTRATIVE CHANGES NEW STATION ANNOUNCED A number of changes were recently made in the distribution of tho personnel of the Military Staff at General and District Headquarters, and in the area groups, with a view to carrying out the recommendations of General Sir lan Hamilton, Inspector-General of the Oversea '• Forces. A redistribution has now been effected of the area officers and warrant and non-commissioned officers of tho New Zealand Permanent Staff in the various military districts, and those proposals aro being submitted to" Headquarters for approval. In tho Wellington district the distribution of duties and stations for officers has been definitely approved as follows:— Staff Corps Officers. Major H. R. Potter (Palmerston North), brigade-major Infantry Brigade, transferred to Napier as group commander. Captain J. H. Whyte (Palmerston North), brigade-major Mounted Rifles Brigade,-transferred to.Gisborne as area officer and acting-brigade-major, Mounted Rifle Brigade. • Captain P. W. Skelly, area grouo officer at Napier, transferred to Wellington as area officer and acting .brigade-major, Infantry Brigade., Captain 11. M. W. Richardson remains at. Wellington as area officer'and acting-adjutant sth Regiment. Captain V. A. Kelsall (Palmerston North) remains at Palmerston North as area officer and acting-adjutant 6th (Manawatu) Mounted Rifles. Captain D. 'E. Caidale, of Napier, transferred to Dannevirke as area officer and acting-adjutant 9th Mounted Rifles. Captain E: C. Dovey remains at Hawora as area officei* and! aqting-actj jutant 2nd Mounted Rifles. ' ' ■ ' Captain J. Bishop remains at Napier as area officer and acting-adjutant 9th (H. 8.) Regiment. _ Captain T. M'Cristell remains at Masterton as area officer and acting-adjutant l 17th Regiment. Captain M. Macdonell, of Hawcra, transferred- to New Plymouth as area officer and acting-adjutant 11th Regiment. Captain J. H. Grover, of Palmerston North;, to AVanganui as area officer and acting-adjutant 7'ah Regiment. Ca'ptain C. G. Powles, Officer Commanding No. 5 Area Group (Wellington City), remains at Wellington, but takes the title of group commander. Captain AV. C. Morrison. Officer in Charge No. 6 Area Group (Palmerston North), remains in Palmerston North, but as group commander. Captain G. AV. Braddell, Officer in Charge of No. 7a Area Group (Masterton), remains at Masterton, but ■as group commander. Captain A. C. C. Stevens, Officer in Charge of No. 8 Area Group (Hawcra), remains at Hawera, but as group commander. , ■ .' ■ Non-Commissioned Officers. The following sergeant-majors of the' permanent staff havo received transfers:—B. AVoodhead (Palmerston North), to Wanganui; E. HI T. Kibblewhite (at presont at-Hastings), to Maugaweka; L. C. Dudson (New Plymouth), to Kimbolton; S. AV. B. Foster (Palmerston North) to , Napier jC. S. Mahoney (Hawera), to New Plymouth ;■ A. A. Browne (Taumarunui), to AA'ellington; A. H. D'Harty (Eketahuna), to Masterfonj'F. H. AVeichern (Lower Hutt), to Petone; G. Bodlo (Manaia), to Elthain; A. J. M. Bonar (Inglewood), to Stratford; D. C. W. Cossgrove (Palmerston North), to Greytown; J. S. Thompson (Ohakune), to Taumarunui; Sergeant-Major {"Warrant Officer) B.'J.. Browning, who has been brigade S.M. of tho Mounted Rifles' Brigade, and stationed at Palmerston North, row assumes tho dutios of librarian in place of Sergeant-Major' Cossgrove.

The sub-area sergeant-majors for No. 5 Group (Wellington City and Suburbs) will be: No. 17 area, Sergeant-Majors J. Thompson and F. H. AVoodward. No. 18 area: Sergeant-Majors Parks and A. A. Browne. No. 19 area, SergeantMajors'J. J. Corkill and C. A. Smith. No. 20 area (Potone), Sergeant-Majors J. J. Ryan and F. H. AVeichern.

Tlio sub-area sergeant-majors for.the Feilding, Kimbolton, Palmerston North, Levin, .Masterton', and Greytown districts will he as follows:—No. 23 area, Sergeant-Majors H.- Wray (Feilding) and L.C Dudson (Kimbolton); No. 24 area (Palmerston Nortli), SergeantMajors E. J. Browning,. C. L. .Nicholls. J. A. Bell, and J. A. B. Thompson, and Scrgeant-Major T.'A. Davidson .(Levin). No. 28' area, Sorgeant-Majors J.: .W.. Downey and D'Harty (Masterton), and D. \V. Cossgrove (Groytown). The whole of tho fchanges mentioned will he completed by August 20.
