On' May 26 the Atlantic, the first of the two steamers building at Quincy (Maes.) for tho Emery Steam Ship Company, of Boston, was launched. The Atlantic is believed to be the largest single-deok steamer afloat, and witn her eister tihip, tho Pacific, baa been designed for the carriage of general cargo and lumber through the Panama Canal. The Atlantic is 350 ft. long, 54ft. 4in. wide, with a dead-weight capacity of about MM. tons on a draught of 24ft. 6in. The holds are entirely freo from obstruction, being each 90ft. long and loading through tiro 30ft. by 27ft. hatchways. The vessel will bo capable of developing about ten and a half' knots loaded. • SHELL OIL FROM SINGAPORE. The British Imperial Oil ' Company's, steamer Pkysa left Singapore on July 21 with a full cargo of "fehell" benzine for Auckland, Napier, Wellington, ,Lyttelton, Timaru, and Dun'edln. The Te Anaui has had a rather interesting career, and figured prominently in the.maritime strike of 1890, and also in tho waterside workers' upheaval of 1913. During the next few woeks three or four sailers are due in Lyttelton, and tho berth occupied by the Te Anau will be utili«d more profitably, hence- her departure. Corinthio left London for Wellington via way ports, on Friday afternoon, July 24.
