MEETING OF THE FEDERATION. \ The annual meeting of the Now Zoa-. Jand Sheepowners and Farmers' Federation was "held in Wellington on Thursday. Mr'. 11. D. Acland (president) was in tho chair, and the following representatives were present Messrs. J. Deans and T. S. Johnstone (Canterbury), - Colonel J. Cowie Nicholls, Messrs.' Roderick M'Keiizie and James Begg (Otago and Southland); P. Patullo and S. Bi Wright (Hawke's Bay and f Poverty Bay), T. Moss and H. Morison (Wellington district), R. D. Vavasour and .C. Teschemaker-Stute (Marlboroiig'h), and' Mr: F. H. Labatt (secretary). ■ /. - ; _The .president, .in moving the adoption of .tlie annual report and balancesheet, stated ; that the shearing agreement made, between tho New Zealand Shearers' 'Association and the Sheepowners'■Federation, had been. adopted by -the .Shearers' Association, at :the conference lield last May, .and steps.had been takon to bring the agreements made between the various Sheepowners' and _ Shearers' Unions before ihe Arbitration -Court, to enable theni to be made an award. Tho shed hands' case was ■ set.-.dgjvn'; for hearing before,'-the Conciliation Council at, Blenheim. on August; 18.. • ,In regard to,' tho Marlborough Farm' Labourers' demands, tho case lad .-come; before the Conciliation Cpmmissioner.' on. July 2. : The employers had protested against any award ing made, for' farm labourers, and the case was; therefore, referred to the Court. ; ' On the:' motion of the president, secOEded by Mr. John Deans, the report and balance-sheet were, adopted. •On the motion <of Colonel Nicholls, the following'resolution was passed:— "That- the attention' of tho Hon. the Minister of Lands' he directed to tlie position, where pastoral ;lands are. being subdivided,' that. where the said rune are not again let on pastoral lease, ,the outgoing lessee lias not the right-to take up one' of tho subdivisions, as was apparently :tha intention of- the Act." , .The: following officers, wero' elected: President, Mr. H. D.'Aclarid (re-elect-ed); vice-president, Mr; J. G. Wilson (re-elected);W.hqn. treasurer, Mr. J. Deans,; and a council consisting cf eighteen members. . ,/ _ Mr. E. Moss was appointed representative of the , on the Advisory, Board of the New Zedland Employers' Federation. _ Messrs. ■ JjL .P- ---. Vavasour, and H. Morison were appointed representatives to attend the annual meeting;of the.
