MARKETING DAIRY PRODUCE
ORGANISING THE FARMERS. On Tuesday last the chairman and directors of the Farmers' _ Co-operative Organisation Society of New Zealand, Ltd., met between 40 and -50 of thedirectors of the various companies of dairy factories at Opunakc, representing factories from AVarea to Pihama ana Awatuna. The object of the meeting was to explain the society's proposals in regard to the improvement of the conditionsunder which our dairy produce is distributed on tlio Homa markets, and for placing the .business on a systematic footing. After hearing the society's proposals, which were generally approved, the following resolution was unanimously carried:—"That this meeting considers that something' should be done to improvo the system of marketing our dairy produce, and that it be a recommendation from this meeting to tlio committee sot .up at Palmerston North to amalgamate with the Farmers' : Cooperative Organisation Society, so as to have, only one company for the purpose.'' On Friday' the society's directors again met between 60 and .70 factory directors at Inglewood; on Saturday another meeting of between 30 and 40 factory directors was hold at Hawera; and on Tuesday another of about. 20 at Stratford, at each of which the resolution passed at Opuiiako was carried without any dissenting voice.
