TRADES PROCESSION
A LABOUR DAY CARNIVAL. At meeting of the Labour Day Carnival Committeo in the Trades Hall, on Wednesday night, it was decided to revive the old-time trades' display procession on Labour Day.' A trades' display on procession has not been held iiiWellington now for' ten or twelve years past. The revival; however, promises to bo'a big affair, and tho various uhions have intimated their unanimous approval of the idea. It was decided to proceed immediately with the preparation of various 'displays. To cncourage rivalry the Trades Council will provide handsome trophies for a)l sections, viz., decorated' vehicles, horses, trades' displays, etc. _ Tho procession, headed by a band, will marshal afi the Government Printing Office and proceed through the city to Newtown Park, wliero a sports programme will be commenced and continued throughout the day. Further attractions will be provided in tho forms, of a Highland dancing carnival, a baby show, sido-shows, and a monster tug-of-war cQmpetition. The secretary reports that this will be the event of the year, and advises that full particulars will be .published later. ■..
