THE" CITY COUNCIL'S. PURCHASE. At last night's' meeting of the City. Council, it was decided that'a proclamation be obtained for the land purchased at Day's Bay under the Public Works Act, and that application. be made to the Hiitt County Council for a deed of graiit over the foreshore from tho county- to the corporation in the same terms as that granted to t'he Wellington Steam Ferry Company. This will give the council the / same rights as those formerly possessed by the company. The Finance Committee of the Council 1 recommended that the section' of ! land purchased by a private individual before the negotiations for Day's Bay were completed, be included in the above proclamation, as ■ the purchaser arid the council could'not come to tcrma' v for the section in question. .
