Early this morning a voto in thd Legislative Assembly on tho question ot closuring tlie debate on Mr. Wade's amendment to tlio Address-in-Reply resulted in a tie—39-89. On the Speaker's casting vote the dobato was kept open, and continues. "'.•'': SEARCHING INQUIRY WANTED. Sydney, July 22> In the Legislative Assembly, _ Mr. Perry, a member of tho Totalisator Commission, said there was a demand for a searching inquiry regarding comments made by .Mr. Hoiman, the Premier, regarding members of tho Commission. In. the course of comment; hinting at tho appointment of a Roya*t Commission, Mr. Hoiman is alleged to have'made usa of the words: "It is almost an inconceivable degree of deprav* ity that a raan should not only corrupt himself, but should sit as an instrument of corruption of other men." '.' Mr. Perry denied that any attempt had been made to influence votes on the Commission. Ho wanted an inquiry in order to satisfy.tho community that':tho charges were unfounded. . .
