I MEETING OF THE BOAEI). At last night's monthly meeting of the Wellington Harbour Beard there were present Messrs. E. Fletcher (chairman), H. L..Nathan; 0. W. Jones, J. G. Harkness, M. Coheav R. A. Wright, A. H. Hindmarsh, M.P., and Captain D. J. Watson. , - Leave of absence was granted to Messrs. J. G. Cobbe, C. E. Daniell, J. Trevor, A. D. Kennedy, and J. W. M'Ewan., The banli balance to credit of current account was sho.vn as £28,483 16s. 4d.. and to credit of imprest account £1252 4s. lOd. There was a sum' of £80,000 on fixed deposit. Payments for tie month amounted to £39,000 6s. 6d. Thec'hairman-reported that after consultation with the representatives of the employees, the tender of, Messrs. Jones and Ashdowh, Ltd., had been accepted for uniforms for the twelve months ending June 30, 1915: that tho tender of Messrs. Charles Hill and Sons had been accepted for uniform caps for the same period; and that the tender of'tho Ex r celsior Clothing Company toad been accepted for the supply of uniform overcoats for the period ending June 30, 1917. He further reported that, as provided'by tho agreement of September, 1908, between the board and the Miramar Borough Council, the council had paid the fourth of five annual payments of £1000 as subsidy An connection with the bpard's works at Miramar. Tho report was adopted! .\. In regard to the conference of local bodies and Chambers of Commerce recently held in Wellington, the chairman reported that in company with Captain Watson he had attended as the repre-, sehtative of the Harbour Board. Ho, thought the conference had done a great ideal of good, and he was of opinion that the Ceritral Chamber of Commerce deserved every credit for having convened the conference. A copy of the Harbours Amendment Bill was before the board. The chairman said tho bulk of tho remits 6ent forward by 'the Harbours' Association were not embodied in the Bill, but the Minister had recently been consulted in reference to the matter,, and had promised to give certain.questions consideration. Everything that was wanted was not in the Bill, "but I suppose," said the chairman, "we must be thankful for what we've got." ' The Wharves and Accounts Committee recommended.the board to affix the seal to the agreement with the Petono Borough Counoil re boat harbour, and to fix 11 a.m. on Monday, August 31,1914, as the time and date for public drawing at the offices of the board of twenty debentures (£850,000; consolidated loan) for redemption on February- 28. 1915; to appoint- Mr.- Thomas Shailer Weston to act as notary, public at the drawing; arid to authorise the secretary-to insert the necessary advertisements. -Tho recommendations were agreed to. Captain Marshall, of H M.S. Psyche, wrote thanking the Harbourmaster for berthing facilities afforded to- wwships. The letter was read to the meeting.
