The annual report of the directors of the Wellington Investment, Trustee and Agency Company, Limited, for tho financial year ended' June 30, 1914, shows that the • net profit on the year's business, including £283 7s. 2d. brought forward from ]ast year! amounted to £4960 12a. lOd. , An interim dividend of 3 per cent, was declared and paid in January, and it is now proposed to pay a further dividend of 3. per cont. (making 6 per cent, for. the year), also bonus of 1 per cent. This will absorb £3520 12s. 7d„ lanvtog- a balance of £1440 os. 3d. Of this amount of £1440 os. 3d. it is rccommendod that £1250 bo carried to reserve fund (which will then stand at- £15,047 65., inclusive of the £1047 6s. already added and derived from pre-' mium oh now shares subscribed for), and that the balance (£l9O os. he carried forward to- the ensuing year's profit and Ibss account. The shareholders during the year sanctioned the increa6c of the nominal capital of the company up to £200,000 by the ' creation of £100,C00 new ordinary shares, of £1 each. ' Messrs. J. R. Blair and J. M. Richardson are the directors who retire from the board, in accordance with tho articles of association," and, being eligible, offer themselves for re-election'. Some business is being done in oats by Southland with the Melbourne market. The tone of the potato market is even weaker than it was last week. Buyers arc holding off completely, and 'until the demand again sets m from Auckland no improvement is expected. Growers are holding out for £2 105... at country stations, but even at £2 it would be difficult to find buyers for any auantity. Little business has been dono in seeds' for spring - sowing, but the season for this business . has barely opened, yet. COMMERCIAL BANK OF AUSTRALIA. Licht, the well-known sugar, expert of Magdeburg, in his monthly circular, states that the production ot beet sugar in Europe shows' a decrease of 556,000 ■ tons. -He estimates that 'for tlio campaign there will'"bo a total decrease of 86,000 tons., . •. . , SILVER.
