WELLINGTON DISTRICT COMMAND
COLONEL OHAYTOR'S FAREWELL , ORDER. ; In a farewell order to tho Wellington district troops, Colonel E. W'. O. Chaytor, 'late ofiicer commanding the Wellington district, and now Adjutant-Gen-eral of the New Zealand Forces (vice Colonel tho Hon. R. II Collins), says: "Before relinquishing command of the Wellington district, I desire . to thank all members of tho District Staff, the officers, N.C. officers and men of the Territorial Force and Senior Cadets, who have worked so well to secui'e the efficiency of the military forces in this district. Tho inception of a new defence scheme has entailed an ' enormous amount of: extra work, which' has been cheerfully performed by you all, though often at very considerable personal sacrifice, and I feel very grateful for your liearty co-operation, which alone has lendercd possible the- results already •achieved, and has made my term or command-a very pleasant one and much less onerous tlian it would otherwise havo been. I feel I can best acknowledge your great services by. asking you to continue to make your standard a/ high one, and not to relax your efforts until you havo secured the complete success of tho universal training scheme in this Dominion."
Colonel F. E. .Johnston, of North Staffordshire Regiment, has been appointed to 9licceed Colonel Chaytor in command of the Wellington district. His district headquarters will be at Palmerston North, and his period of appointment will be for one year.
