• ; —: V TKINITY COLLEGE, LONDON, Tho Sydney Street Hall was packed to the back wall last evening, when the niodals, prized, and awards gained ■in local examinations held under tho auspices of the Trinity College of Musio, London, were distributed by His Excellency the Governor, who was accompanied by the Countess of Liverpool. Her Exoellency, was presented with by M'i&? Lulu Cohen. In the absence of -tho Hon. A. L, Herdman (president) Mr. Malcolm Eoss, a member 1 of the committee, welcomed His Excellency, and referred to the good work that was being dono by the Trinity College in Wellington. Tho medallists were as under:—Miss Alice Webster, intermediate ' medallist (Miss Gaynor); Miss Irene Goyder, second intermediate medallist (Madame Mueller); Miss Blanche Crump, second senior medallist (Mrs. Forrest); Miss Huia Shepherd, senior medallist (St, Mary J s Convent); foe Guerin, junior medallist (Mrs. ilacl;ay). the tlieoi-y prize-winners were as follow:—Higher local, Waiuoni Kay ward (Mrs. Eoiith); senior division, Oliver Ohlson (Miss Harvey); advanoed intermediate, Elsie Pomfrey (Miss Gaynor): intermediate, Ethel Evans (Miss Luke); advanced junior, Elsie Ridge (Mr. C. D. .Macintosh); junior, Ethel Lillifant (Miss Morgan); preparatory, Thelma- - Hicks (Mrs..-Forrest); and.Goraelius-Ryan (Miss Gaynor). Practical. lower . division— 'Beatrice. .. 'Huggett! (Mrs. Braddock); first steps,' Bertha Hudson (Mrs. H. Forrest), , ' ■ -Tho rest of tho, certificate winners have already been 'announced in these columuß. The prizo distribution was followed by a short concert programme, which ade.qnately_ displayed tho talent of the higher prize-winners. The first item on the programme was the . pianoforte solo, "Melody" (Jensen), who, playing from music, displayed an easy facility in execution, though seemingly - handicapped by nervousness. Tho only vocalist of tho ovening was Miss Irene Goyder (second intermediate medallist), who sang "Still as the Night" (Bohin), with 'some appreciation of the tender sentiment of the song. Miss 'Blanche Crump (second senior medallist) played the sparkling "Staccato Caprice" of yogrich with admirable vivacity- and certitude. The brief programme was con. eluded by the playing of a Weber "Hondo" by Mis 3 Huia Shopherd (senior medallist), whoso skilful playing was marked by intelligence and repose. On the suggestion of the oliairman His Excellency tho Governor and the Countess of Liverpool wero accorded'a hearty "vote of thanks for honouring the occassion with their presence. In reply His said that he noted that some of tho ,prize-winners of last year' had taken a step up tho ladder this. year. Somo who had come with tottering steps on the last occasion on which lie had presided now wore longer dresses, and had their hair turned higher up tho lieclt As they increased in stature he hoped they would improve in musical efficiency, and whether they intended to tako up music as a profession or for its benefits as a study, ho wished them all the best of luck. (Applause.) . The secretarial duties w6re carried out by Mr. Leon Cohen, local representative for Trinity College. .
