EX-CONSTABLE SENTENCED
DEMANDING MONEY FROM 'A CHINAMAN. By TaleirraDli—Press Association—Copyright (Kec. July 21, 8.10 p.m.) Sydney, July 21. Gcorgo Louis, a constable, has been sentenced to two years' imprisonment for forcibly demanding money from a Uhinamau. Ho admitted that drink liad caused his downfall On June 23 two constables were charged with demanding money (with menaces) from a Chinaman, with intent to steal. The evidence was to the effect that the constables drove in. a cab in the early hours of the morning •to the house of' the Chinaman in Alexandra, a suburb of Sydney, and threatened to break down the door if they were not admitted. They stated they wero looking for two young girls, and demanded 405., saying they would lock-up the girls if the money was not forthcoming. Eventually the Chinaman gave the constables 9s.
