i A large number of people attended tho pruning demonstration given at Upper .Hutt, on Friday,, by Mr. T. C. Wobb, juh., orchard instructor, Wellington. : The pruning of tho various kinds of fruit trees caused great interest; especially that of tho younger trees. The spraying demonstration could riot bo given on account of the wet weather, and in place of this; Mr. Webb gave a lecture on spraying mixtures, their uses, etc., and a brief life history of a few of. our principal pests. Mr. i'ieice, of Pab'&utamuj on behalf of those present, thanked Mr. Webb for his instructions, etc., and said that a few years back his orchard was bad ..with codliii moth, but now with the aid of the Department ho had completely rid the orchard of this pest. Mrs. O'Leary supplied afternoon tea for those present.

Mr.' G. E. Allen, of, Taratahi, has (says our Carterton correspondent) ceived, an order from Messrs. Wokleron and Woods, of the- Falkland Islands, South America, for sis stud Romney ranis for' shipment in October.- Last year Mr. Allen sent five shearling stud Tains to this firm.
