O'Roiirko, a coal dealer at Alicotown, whilst ■' walking homewards slipped and fell on tho footpath, sustaining a fraeturo of the- kneecap. Ho.was attended to by Dr. Mirams, of Lower Hutt, but tho injury was of such a nature that ; lie was removed to Wellington Hospital yesterday morning in the Petono Ambulance- van.. ■ " A prominent resident in tho Hutt Valley suggests, in regard to the right of entry of the clergy to the State schools, for the purpose of teaching the children tho faith of their fathers, that tho children be permitted on one i half-day per week; to go to their various Sunday schools for denominational teaching. By adopting this course, it is claimed that tho danger.of'the larger sects swallowing up Uio smaller ones would be considerably lessened, if not removed altogether. . The first round of tho ping-pong, draughts, mid quoits tonuiameiit in connection with tho Federated Bible Classes of Petone, which ended last week, resulted as follows:— Methodist, 97 paints;- St. Augustine's, 81; St. David's. 75; St. David's A, 73; St.. David's C. 67 ; Baptist, 55
