'■'■■'•—: P - —-— : FOURTH DAY. The Social Democratic Party annual conference was continued on Saturday in the Esperanto Hall. Mr. H. Hunter (Christehurch East), National President, presided. Over fifty delegates were in attendance. The election of members of the executive resulted as follows:—Messrs. A. M'Carthy (Dunedin), R. Hoss (Foilding), J. Glover (Wellington), M. Ayrton (Runanga), T; O'Byme (Invercargill), M. Fagan (Inangahua Miners), P. H. Hickey (Paparoa Miners), P. Bartram (Gisborne), and Mrs. Donaldson (Wellington). ' The following resolution was carried on tile motion of the Christehurch Fabian Society: "That the substitution of Parliamentary for Cabinet system of Government bo inserted in tho fighting platform." . . A committee report on that part of tho party's constitution which insists on .500 signatures to a requisition beforo a.candidature can bo supported in any constituency was' endorsed as follows: "That district councils or branches where no district council exists, desiring to contest an election,.shall first of all receive the' sanction of the National Executive for whose guidance'tho state (finance, period of propagandist work, number of members, and affiliate ed organisations, etc.) of local organisation shall bo submitted. Once such sanction is received the membeis of tho branches and affiliated unions in tbe constituency under review shall have the right to select the candidate from their own nominations by sccrot ballot vote." An amendment to the party's plank in favour of tho referendum was'inado providing that the reforendum should not be used in matter's affecting religion and conscience.
