The town clerk has'forwarded the following telegram to the Minister of Pub-; lie Works re sea' encroachment.: —"In order to correct an erroneous impression caused by mistaken adverse'criticism published,' the council on Friday night passed a resolution of appreciation of your efforts, and recognising that your engineers' are doing all that can be dona to protect the town—(Signed) Perry, Mayor." Speaking' to tho resolution, tho Mayor deprecated statements , appearing in certain papers as an attempt to make political capital. All the. Ministers 'and members on both sides of the House rendered assistance, the Government'engineers handling the position in the best'.manner, under the'circum-, stances. : Councillors endorsed the statement of the Mayor.' Tho appreciative resolution was carried unanimously.. .•
