It is rather interesting- to note the yputhful age at which many famous actresses began their careers. Mrs. Kendal appeared at the old Marylebone Theatre in "The Struggle for Gold" when she was five. Miss Ellen Terry was eight when she played Mnmillius in "The Winter's.Tale" with Charles lvean at the Princess. But her sister Kate and her niece' Minnie began when they, were three. Miss Winfrod. Emery was eight. when she made her first stage appearance in "The Green Bushes" in Livorpool. Miss ■ Lily Elsie began her stage career when she was eleven. Miss Maude Adams, the American Peter Pan, appeared on the stage as a baby of nine months in "The Lost Child." Miss Bateman first acted when she was four, and her sister, Miss Virginia Bateman, When she was nine. Mrs. Charles Calj' vert has been acting since she was six, and Mrs. Dion Boucicault began when she was 10. Miss Phyllis Dare was nine, and her sister Zena was 12 when they began their postcard record-break-ing careers. Mdme. Adeline GeneoVas dancing in public when she was- eight. Miss Letty Lind played Eva in "Uncle Tom's Cabin" when she was five, .Miss Marie Lohr made her first appearance •when she ivas sis. Miss Edna May began work at five, and Miss Beryl Mereer when she was four. Other, actresses who started making up when they were children are: Lady Bancroft, Miss Ada Relmn, Miss Annie Russell, Miss - Julia Marlowe, Miss Carlotta Addison, Miss Connie Ediss, the sisters Beringer, Miss Ada Reeve, Miss Gabriello Ray, Miss Louie'Freear, and Miss Florence Smithson. A varied and goodly list.
