Norman MLeau, aged 35, son of the owner of •the station, shot himself with a pea. nflo, his body falling into the'river in five feet of water. ' . . ■ Ho left a letter of confession of tlie crime, which was not opened till the inquest. Unknown to Mr. M'Bean, ho was paying , addresses to Gertie M'Alister. • . At the opening of the inquest the-girl's father said that his daughter had no lovers and no enemies. . Mr. M'Bcan, owner of. the station l ! r ! Gertl ° was murdered, stated that he eaw'the deoeasod alivo at 0.30, and that at 8.30 he had heard two gunshot reports. He rushed to tho kitchen and found the girl lying on the itcor hfsJess. A piece of paper found near the body had these words written thereon: No one in this house ia to blame. The girl deceived me.".
