THE BAILLIE PICTURES
.. Instead of closing, on Saturday -next, as was originally intended, the Baillio Gallery of British paintings will remain open for another fortnight. This has been; made possible by the Harbour Board granting an extension of the tenancy of Shed U. Two pictures—both water-colours —have been sold this week. One is Nelson Dawson's, charming little work, "A Chasso-Marle Going to Sea." The other is ''Carnival," by I. G. Gloag. It might be' mentioned that\ these two pictures had been commenaed by the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts as being desirable acquisitions for the proposed National Gallery. However, they will now pass into private collections.
