A CIRCULAR GOVERNMENT'S ANXIETY DUTY OF LIBERALS EVERYTHING IS AT STAKE By Telecraph—Press Association—Copyright (Rec. July 1G„ 10 p.m.) London, July 16. Mr. P. H. Illingworth (Senior Government Whip) confidentially circularised the Liberal members, stating that' the fate of tlio Bills under the Parliament Act was at stake. Any diminution of the majority held in May would encourage the Opposition, and adds:— "The constituencies demand that no Liberal should do anytliing by speech or action at this supreme moment which would weaken -the Prime Minister when everything is at stake for which the generations of Liberals have laboured." Many Liberals have protested against the circular on the ground of its speaking for' a minority. Unionist critics comment that the circular exhibits anxiety amounting almost to distress with which the Government is approaching tlie crisis of their fortunes. NATIONALISTS OPPOSED TO CONCESSIONS J London, July 15. The Nationalist loader* have privately expressed to. the Government their determination not to agree to further concessions.
