The day was fine, hut tlio ground was heavy and 'tho exhibition of hockey poor. The Mana. watu team was very weak in the first*' spell during which Whittaker and Mahoney scored goals for Auckland. The Auckland .attack wis poor. Mogini scored for Auckland early in the second spell, but after that Maiiawatu showed better "'form and had tho host of the,, game.
