KARORI AFFAIRS.
The fortnightly meeting of .the Karori Borough ■Council-was' held oii Tuesday. There were present: The Mayor (Mr. HiHretW, and Councillors B. G. Burn, W.Bradnock, L. P. DaviesvO; J. Jordan, W. Skeg'g, and C. Oimiiio. ' In respect to a letter, received from the Minister of Internal Affairs regard- ■ ing the prevention of danger by fire, the Works Committee recommended that the building inspector should make an inspection of all two-storied-\houses in the borough, satisfying himself that proper fire escapes are in use and'recommending that they be'put in. wherever 'necessary '.^-Adopted. It was decided to writo to the Tramway Board suggesting that the Sunday morning tram; leave five minutes earlier so as'to ■ enable'passengers to catch tho train. " .',' _ It was reported that building permits issued for the quarter ending Tune 30 in tho borough numbered 10, detailed as follow:—Five dwellings, one addition to dwelling, que alteration to shop front.pne verandah, and two sheds. The total cost of these was £2988.
