■ —- —■ 7 —: - Messrs. .C. Holland and J. Oudby, J.P.s', presided at a sitting of the Lower Hutt Court ou Tuesday. For riding bicycles' without lights, Horaco Steadman, Geo. Lowe, Raymond Hall, Ernest Cunningham, John Higgins, Wm. Phillip, Anthony Coiiroy, Samuel Turner,.Bertram Bird, and Charles Tiller were each fined Is. with costs 7s. Reginald Ryder, John M'Ka-y, Geo. Cunningham, and Louis Fleot wero similarly dealt with, and for tho same offence Geo. M'Coll and Albert Poters were each fined ss. with 'costs. Wm. Howe was fined 10s. and costs for driving a motor-lorry without sufficient* lights. Wm. M'lvor was fined ss. and costs for leaving a vehicle unattended. At a meeting of the Freezing Workers' Union, hold at Petone last evening," it was-decided to take part in. the trades procession that is now being organised by the Trades Council. The Gear Company, of Petone, has offered the necessary vehicles, etc., to enable, its employees to make a suitable display. During the dinner-hour at the Petone Railway Workshops on Tuesday, Mr. J. H. Flight, who has been on . the mechanical staff for 16 years, and who leaves for Napier on transfer this morning, was presented with q, motor-light-in<i outfit and a hand-hag for Mrs. Flight by his fellow workmen, as a token of esteem. Thefo was a good attendance at St. Augustine's Hall last evening when the monthly social, under the auspicon of the Petone Tennis Club, was held. Mr. F. Austin : aeted as M.0., and Mrs. Pollook supplied the music. About: fifty persons attended. At the Buick Street Hall, Petone, on Tuesday evening, there, was a large gathering of members of the-Petono Ladies.' Orange Lodge, Mrs. M'Millan ('president) presiding. There were also present several visitors from No. '17 Lodge (gentlemen). During the evening the late president, . Mrs. G. Pickering Was presented with a P.P. certificate,' and ft programme was contributed to by Mrs. Reit, and Messrs. Gough, Thompson, and Hunter. At the Buick Street Hall, Petone, last evening, an entertainment, under the auspices of tho Hope- of PetoneLodge, 1.0. G.T., was held. A party, from Wellington attended, and assisted with the programme. Mr. J. W. M'Ewnn presided, and musical items wore contributed by Mcsdames Taccy, Miller, Reit, the Misses Foster, Petherick, Miller, and Messrs. Potherick. Parsons, Cloussen, Howctt, Miller, Keble, and Harvey. A brass quartet by Messrs. Hades. Francis, Keble, and Swaysland was a feature of tho programme. - A,vote of thanks to tho visitors concluded a pleasant evening. I
