BRISTOL & DOMINIONS PRODUCERS' ASSOCIATION

A meeting of the New Zealand Board of Control of tho Bristol and Dominions Producers' Association, Ltd v was held yesterday, representatives' being' present from Gisborne, Hawke's Bay, Wairarapa, and Canterbury. The question of the present method "of dealing with rejects by"'the various freezing works was considered, and a definite proposal was approved.'of for'submission to tho members of the association. The question of adopting a uniform system of grading of meat shipped to the associa-. tion throughout the' Dominion was also considered and approved of, subject to the final approval of tho Bristol uianagor,. Major Norton, when he arrives in tho .Dominion in a few weeks' time. It was decided that, subject to tho approval of the Bristol manager, the association should undertake the handling of wool through Liverpool next season, where there are excellent facilities available for receiving and marketing the wool at the Wapping Docks. The consolidated charges for receiving and marketing at Liverpool is about half .that at London, being 2s. 4d. per bale at Liverpool as against 4s. 4d. and ss. dd.'per bale in .London, besides which barging and carting are obviated at Liverpool, ibid it is considered that there are better shipping facilities for American' and Continental markets at Liverpool than at Loudon, and also that Liverpool is very much closer to Bradford, the greatest wool-consuming district in the world, than to London, also there are large sales of Argentine and Indian wool held at Liverpool. ' Tho board agreed to a' recommendation'by the Bristol board, that in view, of tho increased volume, of business anticipated next season, that a further issue of shares of tho association be made for Australia and Canada, in addition to the 60,000 already authorised to be issued. The Now Zealand board considered that in view of further shares being' made available for Canada and Australia; that an effort should bo made to' get further shares placed amongst New Zealand producers so as to equalise the control of the association by Now. Zealand with that of Canada and Australia. The manager reported that a number of account sales for meat'had como to hand, and in practically every instance the prediction of tho association as regards' the saving in weight, allowance, and charges were correct and justified. As an illustration, in one consignment of. 420'.carcasses of mutton there was a. not gain over colonial weights of 6691b., while there was , no deduction made for the usual 21b. weight allowance per carcass that is. deducted in London, and while the bulk of the meat had been held for about three months in cold store, owing to a liravy slump in the market caused by a glut of meat in' London, the total dock and cold storage'charges were only £14 lis. 4d., while the London charges would have been for the same parcel and period over £36. , The Ballance Dairy Company, paid out £510 yesterday for milk supplied to its butter factories and skimming' stations, during June (states . our PahiatUa correspondent). ' , Young lamb have already made their appearance in the Pahiatua district.
