The first round of the senior chamt pionship was concluded at Karori Parle oil Saturday afternoon. .Weather conditions were most dismal, and from three o'clock onwards the rain poured almost incessantly. The grounds t wore bad enough when the'games commenced, but after an hour and a half of scrambling and sliding over its uncertain surface . they resembled respectaible hockey grounds no longer. United in their game with Karori easily . maintained their lead in the senior contcst.- The position of the teams as at the .end of the first round is as follows: —

The game was most evenly and keenly , and resulted in a draw—one all. Miss Lang scored a very fine goal for Ramblers in the first spell, while Miss Blacker equalised for Univer- j sity in the second spell. . Mr. C. P. M'Kenzie was Teferee. ' | SYRENS-GIRLS' COLLEGE. Syrens took to the field two short in their game against- Girls' College: Naturally the game suffered, as did Syrens, who left tine field with an eight-torone defeat registered against them. Miss L.
