MEETING OF THE CITY; COUNCIL,
At last night's meeting of the Wellington : City Council, the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) presided, and', there were also present: Councillors R. Fletcher, T. C. A. Hislop, E..-A-, Wright, M. M. : F. Luckie, E; Tregear, L. M'Kenzie, H. Buddie, J] Godber, G. Frost, J. E. Fitzgerald, .W. H. P. Barber, and A. H. Hindmarsh. ;:. . '■ ';
■On the recommendation of the Finance 'Committee, it was decided that the request of the Church of"'Christ," South Wellington Trust -Board, "that the council recommend the- Govcrndr-iu-Cbuncil to amend the restriction imposed by an Order-in-Council issued in 1907 that buildings shall not be erected within ;33 -'feet of the 'cent-fe' line of Colombo "Street, and to reinstate the original ■ restriction,' viz,' tliat buildings be permitted to be erected up to within sft. of , the boundary of such street," he acceded-to..'-:.. , " ' '.
It was also ' decided that' the City Engineer- be-instructed'to' lay longitudinal planks ■at :the:'Eyerton Terrace Bridge, :and that notices be erected limiting the speed of air vehicles passing .'over /the bridge to- five miles , ;per hour.' .•.■■•;; .;■ ■ . i- ; '■ ■.". '..

It was'.recommended by't]ie Tram--waysj Power Station,,aiid'EigjitihgCohi'mittee, that: the "request of the Tramways Union that'tlie' hands at the car sheds bo granted an-increase of wages, be. not acceded to, as tTie men are already paid wages' greater than those stipulated in the. award. :
