COUNCIL OF WOMEN
Tho International Council of Women held iitj quinquennial meetings at iloir.o from .May 5 to May 11, under the presidency of Lady Aberdeen (stales "The Queen 1 '). This is considered tho most represent ativo organisation of women in tho world. It has a membership of over six million, and is organised "in tho interests of no ono particular propaganda." Laws concerning the [opal position of women, suffrage, and the right of citizenship, public health, education, emigration, immigration, and finance are a few of the subjects under discussion. These sections aro each in charge of a representative whose particular experience and knowledge malces her specially litted to undertake tho position Their reports (adds "The Queen") will furnish some interesting information as to the improvement in the position of women in puhli? life, and the new branches of work opened to them during Ihe past live years. In addition to the business aims'of the council, four public meetings were held, when some of the subjects under discussion were "The Life of Women in Rural Districts,•' dealing with typically agricultural countries. " Juvenile Delinquency, its Causes and Means of Prevention." and the "Economic Aspects of Women's Work."
