FIRES.
FIRE AT KAROIU. Fire totally destroyed a live-roomed dwelling-house on the Standcii Estate, Karori, at 4 o'clock yesterday morning. The houso was owned and occupied hy Mr. 11. Cartwright, of the Harbour Board staff, and the inmates had barely time to escape. Members of the Northland Fire Brigade proceeded to the fire, but to the lack of water their efforts were of no avail. The houso was insured for £'350 in the State. Fire Office, and the furniture was covered hy a policy for Xlllii in the same office.
