ENGINEERS' DEMANDS
. 'dominion award to be 1 SOUGHT. (By TclecraDlJ.--Press Association,) ' Dunedin, July 1. Tho case of the Dunedin Branch of tho Amalgamated Engineers was before the Conciliation Council to-day. A deadlock occurred over tho first clause of the demands seeking a week of 44 hours instead of 47 Hours. The employers said they were not disposed to ooncode anything in regard-to any of the principal clauses, because to do so would'prejudice tho employers in other centres where the dispute had also arisen. It was better, they suggested, to refer the dispute bodily to the Court in tho hope of a Dominion award..Tho Union delegates reluctantly consented, and Mr. Triggs formally agreed to tho course proposed.
