OFFICERS' CONFERENCE.
Tho conference of 'members of tho Headquarters and District Staffs of tho Defence Force, which was opened- in Wellington on Monday,, was concluded yesterday. The gathering was held at the Garrison Officers' Club, in Buckle Street, and Major-General Sir Alexander Godley, Commandant of the -New Zealand Military Forces, presided. Tho conference discussed in detail tho report on the forces which was made recently by General Sir lan Hamilton, Inspector-General of Oversea Forces. Consideration was given, also, to tho recommendations made by the conference of senior Territorial officers.
Last evening, Sir Alexander Godley made a short statement to a Dominion representative as to the result of the deliberations. The Commandant stated that during the conference a great many questions were discussed./ Particular consideration was given to Sir lan Hamilton's report. The question of having concentrations, instead of drills, for tho country units was gone mto at length; and particular attention was paid to the matters of reorganisation find improvement suggested in the'report. Tho discussions were very thorough, and it is hoped that the conference- will bear good fruit in tho near future. Tho gathering lias now broken up, and most of the officers who were in Wellington specially to attend it have left for their stations.
Certain matters have been reserved for tho Minister of Dofencc. It is considered likely that in due course the Minister will give out something more definite for publication. ,
