The l'rinco of Wales 'and Prince Albert paid half a sovereign each for a rose. Tho sellers penetrated to Downing Street, interrupted a Cabinet meeting, and pinned .button-holes in the Ministers' coats. Tho New Zealand contirtgent, under Lady Islington, accepted Mrs. Asquith's hospitality in Downing Street.' Girls were greeted at the Old Bailey, vrhero' they sold a hundred roses to counsel and reporters. The takings from tlio sale of rosos psceed £45,000.
