■ (From Our Own Correspondent.: A . presentation to Mr. 11. Baldwin, on his retirement from office, took place last {veiling at tho Lower Hutt I'ire Station, under the auspices oi tlio local brigade. The function was preceded by a cuclire party, Captain Slmn conticlliu's the tables, at which about 50 persons ; assembled. Captain Sliun, on behalf of the brigade, presented to Mr. Baldwin a silver-mounted ink-stand suitably inscribed, as a token of esteem. The annual progressive euchre party and social of Lodgp Ulster No. 62 waa held last evening in the Masonic Hall, Petono. There was a very large attendance' of members. Dr. Ross and Mr. J. G. Castlo acted as M.C.'s, the musio being supplied by Mrs. J. Pollock. It was intimated that- the annual children's party would be held to-iiight. . Tho Petono Ladi;s' Social Committee held a successful social last , eveuiuß .in" St. .Augustine's. Hall, Petone. Ii spite -of- the inclement weather a large' number assembled and an enjoyable time was spent. Mr. D. Fraser acted as M.C., and Mrs.. Frascr supplied the music.
