Sincere and deep regret was expressed iii business circles and amongst members of the Scottish Society in Chratnhurch yesterday when news of' tho death of Mr. James MacKintosb, who on several occasions has been chiof of the Scottish Society, became known. Mr. MacKintosh has been ill for a long time, but even up to the last hopes Were entertained for bis recovery.— Press Association. Mr. W. H. Baillie, a member of the Carterton Borough Couucil,'died in Wellington last evening. Mr. Baillie camo to Wellington recently to undergo an operation. Mr. Charles M'lntyrc, of Rangiwahia, who has been appointed as a member of the Land Board, vice Mr. M'Lcnnan, who has resigned, vas welcomed to the board at, yesterday's meeting, by the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Mr. T.
