MECHANISM FOUND DAMAGED./ Towards the end of last week Captain Johnson paid,a periodical visit to the harbour lights. At Point Jerningham huoy it was noticed that the had 6ufFered damage, mid investigation disclosed that some.vessel had been in collision with the buoy, and also that the mechanism of the light had been disorranged and the glass broken. It was fortunate that the Harbourmaster's visit took place soon after the mishap, for had the light been extinguished Borne accident, more or less serious, might have resulted, as Point Jerningliam buoy considerably affects navigation in the harbour. , Speaking to a reporter last -evening, Captain Johnson said that it was ' regrettable that no one had seen fit to report the state of the buoy light. Hβ recommended masters and others in charge of small oraft to report to him at ■once any damage to harbour lights which may happen to come under their notice.. '
