RUGBY ' TO-DAY'S INTER-ISLAND MATCH. _ Tho inter-island Rugby match, which is to be played on Athletic Park this afternoon, is attracting considerable attention, and is- certain to bo patronised by largo crowds of followers of the game (unless tho weather is exceptionally hostile). The North v. South match is always an event of great interest/ and this year's is particularly interesting because tho New Zealand selectors aro to attend for the purpose of selecting an All Black combination • to tour Australia. A good proportion of tho players have- already gained the distinction of tho silver fern, but there are also a number who will make their first bow to a Wellington spectatorato. If all goes well a brilliant game by the country's best Rugby men may be scon. . WELLINGTON REPRESENTATIVES. To-day tho Wellington representatives travel to Carterton to play Wairarapa, the team being as' follows:— Board, M'Taggart, Grace, Fairo, Algar, P. J. Ryan, Robinson, Gilchrist, King, Parker, Bell, Beard, Paton, Millor, Kyno, Macfarlane. Mr. H. Buck has been appointed manager of tho team, which leaves by. tho 7.50 train and returns this evening. * On Tuesday next a team will leave to play Taranaki at Hawera, which has been selected as follows:—Francis, Parker, Bell; Beard, Wilson, Paton, Cotter, Gilchrist, Beard, Tilyafd, Faire, P. (to United). The Southland Association wrote inquiring the probable date on which the Wellington representative team wouldi visit Invercargill. In/this connection it was decided to ask the Selection Committee to arrange for a team to go south in August to play games in _ Christchurch, Dunedin, and Invercargill. It was decided to write to tho Karori Borough Council requesting that two ■pjctra cars leave Cpurtenay Place on Saturday for Karori Park. Messrs. Richards, Beere, and Gayford were appointed members of tho Junior Selection Committee. The following will represent. A friendly snooker match was played at the club-rooms of the Commercial Travellers' Association on Wodnesday evening) between six members of thn Central Club and six members of tho Cl'. Club, a number of members of botli clubs being present and taking a keen interest in the contest. In the first round, Messrs. Batchelor, Taylor, and 'Whitcomb, for tho Central, beat Messrs. Quinn, Steele, and Ellis, while Messrs. Jacobs, Rothschild, and Williams, for tho C.T. Club, -pulled off. their panic against Messrs. M'Donald, Kennedy, and Marquis, the Central winning tho first round by three points. In the second round, Messrs. Rothschild. Jacobs, Williams, Ellis, Steele, and Quinn, for the C.T. Club, beat Messrs. Marquis, Taylor, Batchelor, M'Douald, Taylor, and Kennedy respectively.
