Sir Janiej Jlills, who, with Miss Mills, lias returned to London from Vernct-les-Baines, where he spent several weeks, was attacked by bronchitis last week, but is now much better. Lord and s\id.y Plunket lent their house, G Ormonde Gale, Chelsea, last week, for a reception, at which they wore present, given by Sir. Cecil Jameson, the New Zealand painter. Between twenty and thirty of Mr. Jameson's beautiful pastel portraits and a few other pictures wore exhibitd. Sir Joshua and Lady Williams, of Dunedin, with Miss Constance Williams, spent a few days in Rome and Paris en route to London. Sir Joshua Wililams is the Now Zealand representative on tho Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. The Rev. Arthur F. Smith, late vicar of Northcote, Auckland, who sinco his arrival in England with his wife and two daughters, in 1911, has 'oeen senior curate to Canon Hawkins, at Lythnm, Lanes., has accepted tho benefice of St. Thomas, Moorside, Oldham, and takes up his duties there on Whit-Sun-day. Miss Hoby, of Wellington, and Miss Nicbolls, of Wellington, arrived here last >-week, after spending a couple of months in South Africa. Miss Hoby is now staying in Norwich with her brother, Dr. Hoby, but shortly goes with Miss Nicbolls to Germany, wliere sho will study the violin whilo Miss Nicbolls studies German.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Richards, of Wellington, shortly intend making a tour of the provincial citi.es. .They then go to Scotland, and in July to tho Continent.

Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Griffin, of Wellington, and Master Griffin, who are hero for twelve months, intend to tour Great Britain, Ireland, and the Continent. Mr. Griffin is combining business with pleasure, and on that account they are returning to New ' Zealand via America. " . '

Messrs. C. P. and E. Fair, of Westport, and Mr. Arthur fair,, who is a Wellington barrister, arrived' liero via Nimes, Avignon and Paris. They arrived at Paris during tho King's Visit. They intend to spend a month in London, two months in tho country and in Scotland and Ireland, and two months travelling in Paris, Holland, Bolgium, Germany, Vienna, Switzerland, and Italy. ,

Tho High Commissioner was present' at the reading of Mr. Charles Bright's paper on ''The Administration of Imperial Telegraphs," at the meeting of the Royal Society of Arts' last week, and on' the same evening attended a dinner in the hall of Lincoln's Inn. On Wednesday Mr. Mackenzie was present at a dinner of tho Morccrs' Company, and on Thursday, when the King paid a visit to Loys School, Cambridge, Mr. and Miss Mackenzie were amongst those invited to witness the ceremonies held in connection with His Majesty's visit. Mr. Mackenzie afterwards travelled to Lincolnshire, whore ho spent a few days. Mr. -John Fox, of Pahiatua, visited Oxford last week, and is now in .London.

Mr. and Mrs. A. Guy, of Palmerston North, are on a- trip to England and the Continent. ' Mr. Walter Bewle.v, of New Plymouth, is on a trip to England, which will extend over nine months.

Miss D. Mooro, of'Christchurch, who will shortly arrive in England, intends to take up hospital nursing. Mr., Mrs.,- and Miss Dennison, of Oamaniy the former of whom has spent somdv'ifmo. in -''Mia, I' KaYoP'sßttlea-''in Kensington. : Mr. C. P. .Thomas, of 'Cliristchurch, will bo hero for a few iweeks,- and tlien> intends to make an extensive tour of the British Isles. '

Mr. and Mrs, Williamson, of Christchurch, intend, coming on to England,' after visiting Japan, Siberia, and other countries.

Mr. and Mrs; E. F. Airey, of Nelson, are staying with Mr. AiroyV sister at Finchley, They will probably bo in Europe for'six months. . Miss M. Dickson, of Auckland, leaves for' Paris at an early date.' After touring, the Continent, she will visit Scotland and Ireland.

Mrs. Neill P. Keith, wife'of Dr. Keith, of Auckland, with her' two children, has'left England for the Transvaal, and will remain there for several months before returning to New Zealand.

Mr. A. Mackintosh, of New Zealand, is how.in England. Later thoy will visit Scotland and Ireland, before returning to New Zealand.

Mr. J. S. Tabart, of Wellington, intends making an extensive tour of Great Britain and the Continent, and will fco away from the Dominion for about twelve months.

Licenses to'practise have been conferred by the Royal College of Physicians upon Dr. Hugh Lawrence Widdowsou, University of New Zealand, and Dr. John Ebenc'zer Kelly Brown, University of New Zealand and London Hospital. '■ , ■ Mr. Leslie Glover, one of the bandsmen of the Wellington Salvation Army corps, has .volunteered for service in Java, but is first coming oxer to England with tho Dominion delegates, to undergo a course of study at the Clanton Training College, London. Mr. and Mrs. D. O'Reilly, of Hawke's Bay, who are at present in Ireland, intend -later to visit their son, 'Mr. F. J O'Reilly, who is a medical student in Edinburgh. During the summer thoy will go to the Continent, and will also mako motor tours through Ireland, England, and Scotland. They intend to remain over hero for two years.

Mr. J. R. Richards, of Christchurch, ex-Mayor of South Invercargill, has sjxjnt some time with relatives in Manchester and Sheffield, whom'he has not seen for over thirty years. He is nowstaying at Chelmsford, and later returns to London, sailing for homo about November next. '

Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm, of Christclmrcli, spent seven months in Australia, Ceylon, India, Turkey, Greece, and Egypt, a montli on the Mediterranean, end a few weeks on'the Continent on the way to England. Thoy intend to visit Norway in Juno, and then make a threo months' tour of England and Scotland by motor,. and afterwards a trip to Ireland. , Mr. C. F. Fenton, of Auckland, spent a few days Inst week in Kent with relatives. He intends to tour the United Kingdom, and later to spend somo weeks in Franco, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland.
