iFrom Our Own Correspondent.) 1 The Nelson Street Methodist Church was crowded on Wednesday, ait entertainment being given in aid of the Circuit fund. Tlio Eev. J. J. Lewis presided and the following contributed items to a capital programme. Airs. C. D. "Mackintosh, the Misses Heintz, A.T.C.L., and Watkins, and Messrs. G'. D. Mackintosh and Yoyce. In the second part of the programme tlio sacred cantata "Olivet to Calvary" was <;ivcii by the Thorndon Methodist Choir, under the baton of Mr. C. D. Mackintosh. Miss Nicholas was organist','and tlio tenor'and bass- soloists were Messrs. Jerikins and Goad respectively.
The weekly meeting of the Hope of Petono Lodge'of Good Templars No. 187 was held iu Ranfurly Hall, Sydney Street, Petono, on Wednesday. Bro. J. .Rose, C.T., presided over a fair attendance of members. One new member was initiated into the Order by Bro. J. Rose, C.T. An invitation was received from the Pioneer -Lodge, No. 11, of Wellington, ■to bo present at their meeting on June 22. The invitation was accepted: Correspondence was received from the Acting-District Electoral Superintendent, Bro. N. Ingram, in connection with the Licensing Bill. The matter was left in the hands of Bro. Rose, Electoral Deputy. Tho item for the evening was in chif-rge of the Harmony Committee and the siim of'os.'9d. was realised for the Harmony Committee funds. The lodge was dosed by Bro. J. Rose, C.T.
