HAWKE'S BAY JOCKEY CLUB SECOND DAY. EXOTIC WINS JUNE CHASE.(By Telegraph.'—Special Correspondent.) /Hastings, ilune 18. •The Hawke's ! Bay jockey Club's Winter' Meeting concluded to-day in lino .but .'dull-'weather! The attendance was Lirgb and .the'eoiirse iii good order. The; tptalisator handled £16,6i0, as cornfared with.£14,225 for tho corresponding day last' year. Tho total for the two days was £30,780, against £27,211'. for tho last' Winter Meeting. It was Wilson, rider of Sir ' Donald in the Whakatu Hurdles yesterday'"who '.'was: seriously injured,' and not Maxchant, rider of...Paiwanui, as telegraphed last night;..Pritchard,', rider of •Mount' Victoria in the last race, was called beforo tho stewards for: alleged interfereneo with'iNgarua. iVfter the cvidenco of A. .Oliver,' rider of . Nganu, Pritchard vas suspended for three months, for crossing, '■'■ x ''••• Soveral. fresh .candidates appeared in tho Hack Hurdle field to-day. Tho win- ] i«>r turned up in Grey King (by.StroWan —Lulu),' 'a member of ,J. Jones's Gisborne- team.': Tho Jgrey gelding mao-j' s remarkable improvement on yesterday's form,, and was a winner at any stage or tho'race.' Parev«uiui came down two fences from home, when looking-like a place-getter. Sunbeam ran'welT, and got-second place, just a.neck iii.franc of Glen Nevis'. Tho'latter: will "'see • a better day. Otatara made, his reappearance; and ran very/well fpr.a'mile, when:he tired.' Manitau made a "good showing 'for a beginner, hilt nothing shoiie out in such attractive colours, as the winner, who appears to bo and capable of improvement. .'' Tho Hack Steeplechase was generally rogarded as between' Lady Biboero and Stroller, and they finished first and second. Tho race was- : a fiasco 'for Stroller was tho only one to completo the course without mishap. Lady Bibbero ran into Kelp at the second fence : at : 'the double the first;.timo round, ; .but was subsequently brought .back' and flew tho fence. By this time Stroller had a lead of' half a mile, and he maintained .it till the, finish. Defeat was remounted after falling, and got third money, and Jessamine also .completed the course. Pelican was going Well when he bumped Meagher „out of the saddle. •Farramatta fell at the sod wall the first time round.

.; -A rhe of 131b. did not stop Banian, who again.scored in the-Ladies'.-Neck-lace. Settler, who stripped very well, was nearly as well backed as the winner, and finished second. Bransfiold was a fresh'candidate, and filled third, place. Tho others wcre-beaten off. • ■•'•■-'

'•'.On paper, tho June Stecplos looked, th 4 best. of.-. gocd things tor. ; Exotic, but ho was allowed to give a good:re-' turn, consequent upon strong support ccming for Cousin Jack and Sir Lethe. At the start• Sir'Letho and Morihik'o Were pulling hard, and tho latter ran off at tlio double, i Exotic now ran'up to Sir Lethe, who' was .pulling' hard, but the latter, again jumped himself to the > front. Kauroa then joined Exotic in second place. A mile from home the trio w:ere together, but Deerpy .hung on! 1 toi Sir Lethe. At the atoho wall-ho was well clear, .but the" next fence satf Exotic take charge. Tho trio roso. at tho hencoop together, and in a good finish tho favourite scored from Kauroa, with ■ Sir .Lethe right up; The Chief was fourth,; ,E1 Dorado ,was .the only other hdrs'ei-'to'ftiiish. , I'<'V U !■'.'■ .

Pursetiller (Deeley), Portraiture (W. Bell), and Amity'(A. Oliver) were the only horses supported in tlio Kaukawa Hack Handicap. A quite unfancied candidate in Chatmoss vas leading at the bond, but once in the straight Deploy brought'Purseliller along, and looked to be winning easily, but Portraiture came with a wet sail, and headed her off. The concluding event went to Day Fly, with Amber and White, who led most of-the way, second. Ngarua was a good third. ■'•■-.• .'•'.'• THE RESULTS. (By iTelegraph.—Proas .association.)
