EXHIBITION OPENS NEXT SATUII DAY.
Mr. John Baillic, who brought out to Aew Zealand the admirable collection of pictures from which those painting 3 to form the nucleus of the iVow Zealand iSational, Gallery ivoro purchased, will exhibit in Wellington shortly another colloction which ho has shown at the Exhibition at Auckland. As on tho occasion of his previous visit ho is to display the pictures in one of tho Harbour Board sheds, and yesterday ho took possession of the building. Tho pictures have already < arrived from Auckland. In all tho collection comprises nearly 500 pictures, or a considerably larger number than he brought out previously. Mr. Baillio proposes to fit up four galleries in the shed, whereas I for the last collection three galleries sufficed for display purposes. Spaco and other requirements wero lacking in the quarters provided at Auckland,"and in Wellington about 200 of the paintings, the greater number of the etchings, and tho lithographs will bo shown" for tho first time. Mr. Baillie brings also F.omo sculpture, by such famous men as Alfred Brury, R.A., F. W. I'omeroy, A.R.A., and T. Stirling Lee. Ho lias also Eome exceptionally fine photographs. Among the new artists reprc-' sen ted in this collection are Gerald Kelly. A.R.H.A., S. J. Lemorna Birch, A.R.W.S.. Russell Flint, A.R.W.S., Bobert Little. Montagu Snivtbe, .Job)) Hassell, W. F.yre Walker, R.W.K.. K. J. Sullivan, H.W.S., Adrian Stokes, A.11.A., Fred Rowe, Fred Hall, K, A, Tfornel, .Tames Clark, R.A., Arthur Hacker. R.A.. Jiriton Riviere, R.A., .{. W. North, A.R.A...and Hubert oclimelz. Pictures bv several of these artists wero not hung in Auckland.
