DOMINION FARMERS' UNION
DATE OF CONFERENCE. • The animal conference of tlio New Zealand Fanners' Union opens in Wellington on Jnlv 21. Remits from all unions will be discussed as usual, but an attempt will be mado this year to merge remits oil similar subjects from various unions into one covering remit. This course has been adopted to save time. At the last annual conference something like 140 remits were discussed, many on one subjcct, and several delegates expressed a desire to havo proceedings shortened in tlio way suggested. , Amongst the remits to bo discussed is one from the Auckland Union, as follows:—"That the Dominion Conference bo again asked to appoint a committee to consider and draft a scheme of government by elective executive for this country, in order that the Farmers' Union may be able to enter on an active campaign to bring this principle clearly before the electors of the Dominion." Another remit from the same union is as follows-—"That the New Zealand Farmers' Union claim a right to havo a representative on the Board of Agriculture."
